LEISEGANG Colposcopes - now with LED illumination

LED - the light source of the future

LED is the shortcut for light-emitting-diode. The light of LED's is produced through semiconductor effects and not through the heating of a filament, used by conventional standard bulbs. The light efficiency of an LED is with about 30% more than 6-times higher than a 3% to 5% light efficiency of conventional bulbs. So far LED's were mainly used for status displays in different colours, but today light intensive white-light-LED's are more and more used as an quite better substitute for halogen lamps in medicine as well as in automobile industry.

Leisegang now offers for our colposcopes a LED illumination with highest light intensity, which is comparable to an standard 150W halogen lamp. Through the use of a completely different optical spectrum, the LED light provides a highly improved contrast and with it even on 2D pictures a very three-dimensional impression. That's why the use of a green filter is hardly necessary.

Leisegang LED colposcopes utilize LED's with a life span of more than 20,000 hours or approx. 20 years with an daily operating time of 4 hours. So it is a very much higher than the life span of halogen-cold light-lamps with approx. 50 hours. Obviously you can safe a lot of money by using a LED colposcope.
